Youth in Care Funding
Provincial Tuition Waiver Program and Learning for Future Grant
If you are a former youth in care attending a BC public post-secondary institution, or the Native Education College, and was in the care from the Ministry of Children and Family Development for a minimum of 24 months, you may be eligible for the Provincial Tuition Waiver Program and the Learning for Future Grant. The program was created to improve access and educational outcomes for former youth in care.

Students already attending school on the Provincial Tuition Waiver can apply annually for the Learning for Future Grant. Complete the Declaration form and submit your application via email to Finaid@cnc.bc.ca or in person at the Financial Aid & Awards Office Room 1-753
Youth Futures Education Fund (YFEF)
The Youth Futures Education Fund (YFEF) is designed to assist students of all ages currently enrolled at CNC. This grant supports essential needs such as textbooks, housing, utilities, and emergency expenses. Strengthening Abilities and Journeys of Empowerment (SAJE)
The SAJE program supports young individuals with care experience until the age of 27. Eligible students can access income supports, housing supports, health and wellness supports, life-skills training, and cultural connections funding.
Agreements With Young Adults (AYA)
The Agreements with Young Adults program is for former youth in care. It provides financial support for students to finish high school, go to college or university or take a rehabilitation or life skills program. Talk to a social worker at your local Ministry of Child and Family Development office or visit for more details.
Please note: Effective April 4, 2024, the Agreements with Young Adults (AYA) program has been phased
out and replaced by the Strengthening Abilities and Journeys of Empowerment (SAJE) program. Young
adults currently on AYAs will continue to receive supports until their agreement ends, after which they can
transition to the SAJE Income Support.
