English Language Requirements

English is the language of instruction at the PornÑо¿Ëù.  PornÑо¿Ëùrecognizes that applicants must have a level of English sufficient to participate and be successful in the learning process.  Meeting the English Language Proficiency requirements satisfies the language requirements for most post-secondary programs. 

Note:  some programs have more specific English Language proficiency admission requirements

PornÑо¿Ëùreserves the right to request an English Language Proficiency assessment from any applicant.   

CNC’s English Language Proficiency requirements can be met by one or more of the following:

Test scores are valid for 2 years from the date the test was written and must be valid through the first day of classes.

ELP Tests:

 

Academic IELTS

Overall score of 6.0 with no band less than 6.0

CAEL

Overall of 60+ with no subtest below 60

CELPIP General

No section less than 7

Duolingo English Test

Overall score of 110

English Language Program

Level IV– English for Academic Purposesfrom a BC Institution or completion of theENLA EAP 3levelat the PornÑо¿Ëù.

PTE Academic

Overall score of 59 with no section less than 55

TOEFL iBT

Overall score of 80 with no section less than 17

Other:

 

Canadian High School or Post-Secondary English

A minimum final grade of “C” in English 12 or BC English First Peoples 12 from a Canadian High School or a minimum final grade of “C” in a Post-Secondary English course. English as a Second Language courses are not accepted.

GCSE/IGCSE English Courses

A minimum final grade of “C” in GCSE/IGCSE Ordinary Level English. English as a Second Language or Additional Language courses are not accepted.

Exempt Countries (English Speaking Countries)

Successful completion of three consecutive full-time years of secondary school and/or post-secondary education taught in the English language in a country where English is the principal language (see list of countriesbelow). Education must include the equivalent of B.C. secondary school graduation with a minimum “C” average. Full-time study is defined as successful completion of at least three non-ESL courses per semester and six non-ESL courses per academic year.
